Christianity is one of the central monotheistic religions and has the largest number believers worldwide.
Christianity was born in the Land of Israel some 2,000 years ago and is based on the story of Jesus. During the 400 years A.D., and particularly after Christianity has become the official religion of the Roman Empire at the 4th century A.D., Christianity became the dominant religion throughout Europe and the Western World . During the Colonial era (from the end of the Middle-Ages and up to the middle of the 20th century), Christianity has spread to the European colonies, and at present, the majority of Christians, live outside the Western World.
Pilgrimage tourism to the Holy Land is the Christian pilgrimage. The pilgrim-tourist makes pilgrimage to the Christian holly sites, churches and other places that Jesus visited or stayed in.
The pilgrimage to the holy places is one of the deepest religious experiences for each of the monotheistic religions, and this tradition exists in Christianity for already 1,500 years.
Israel is called in the Christian tradition “Terra Sancta” (the Holy Land), because it is the cradle of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and the place of vision for the Old and New Testament stories.
There are some 30-40 pilgrimage sites which are a must for a tourist who is on a pilgrimage tour of Israel. 50% of these sites are concentrated in the Jerusalem area and in a short distance ride from the city. 30% of the sites are in the Galilee and around the Sea of Nazareth, and the rest of it, in the Western Galilee and at the Israel costal plane.
The sites visited by the pilgrim-tourist are mainly connected to the journeys of Jesus throughout the Holy Land and those which are mentioned in the New Testament.
Our tour programs to the various Christian sites by their differing geographical locations will enable the visitors to get acquainted with the places, the figures and the events as they are described in the New Testament.
